Sorry I've been so silent on this. The 4.1.0 release is taking longer
than I expected to get done. My current guess is about a month for a
beta release.
I haven't had a chance to take a proper look at your requested changes
yet. I'll look before the release, but if they're too invasive, I'll
prefer to leave them as a separate patch, since EBCDIC support is such
an uncommon requirement. I haven't made a decision either way yet.
