The OMG does specify a string form for IORs, which is used by omniORB in the
registry and configuration file. This specification is necessary, as otherwise
one couldn't cut and paste stringified IORs between different vendor's ORBs.
See section 10.6.5 of the CORBA 2.0 spec. for details.
If you want to see the contents of a stringified IOR, use the utility catior,
included with the omniORB distribution.
