[omniORB] using omniorb with java 1.2

I have just downloaded the latest version of omniorb (for solaris 2.5) and
am about
to start going through the docs and examples and all.
But, if I might first ask a simple question...

What I want to do is to use this package to build C++ implementations for
server objects, and use the Java 1.2 ORB and idltojava compiler for building
java clients.

So, my simple question is - will that work?

Quick confirmation would be appreciated before I invest too much time,
further
tips and hints would also be much welcomed.
