I would not be surprised if Orbit had some issues regarding
interoperability.

You may want to look at Ethereal (http://www.ethereal.com), a free
protocol analyzer, which can analyze the GIOP protocol (among many other
protocols).  It may give some hints, if Orbit is misbehaving
at the protocol level.
