Hi all,
Perhaps someone can help me with this.
Problem: When omniORB is installed on a Redhat 7.0 standard
installation, it cannot talk to other boxes (mostly).
We know the following:
- The omniORB package being used is 3.0.2
- The omniORBpy package being used is 1.2.
- omniORBpy is built against python 2.0 on both boxes.
- omniORB talks between two boxes running Redhat 6.2 without problems.
- The omniORB installation on the RH7 box was compiled from source on
the relevant box.
- When the client is run on the RH7 box and the server is on the RH6.2
box, communication works.
- When the server is on the RH7 box, the client on a RH6.2 box can
talk to the nameserver running on the RH6.2 box and get an IOR for
the remote service. However, it is not possible to connect to the
remote service.
- A consequence from the last point is that the RH7 box appears to be
able to register a service with a remote name service.
- When the server is on the RH7 box, a client on a different RH7 box
cannot contact it.
- The example programs in the omniORB package are being used to do
these tests, so it is not home-grown code that is the problem.
- No binaries used in the tests are NFS mounted -- so everything on
the RH7 box is using the native libraries compiled against the RH7
glibc and associated libraries.
- The version of the gcc package is 2.96-69
- The version of gcc-c++ is 2.96-69
- The version of glibc is 2.2-12
