[omniORB] OmniORB on RedHat 7.2

Hello world,

I'm a beginner on Linux and since 3 days I try to install OmniORB.
I already searched the mail archives for a solution to my problem.
but found nothing relevant.

So what did I do:
- Download the source code only version and unzip/untar into my home
directory.
- Edit config.mk to use i586_linux_2.0_glibc2.1 as platform.
- Follow the steps in README.unix.
- try to start: ./omniNames -start
- but then: orb->resolve_initial_references("RootPOA") throws an exception.
- same happens when trying to run the example programs

What am I doing wrong? Can anyone please help me?

By the way, installing OmniORB on Win2000 didn't cause
me any headache at all.
