omniEvents has been ported to an Autoconf build environment.
It now builds `out of the box' on Windows2000, AIX, Solaris,
Tru64/Alpha, HP-UX11 and Linux. Windows binaries are available
as a separate download.
The new release preserves the exact functionality of 2.1.2, in
order to keep changes in the build system separate from
functional changes. There have been some minor changes to the
text of error messages, in order to enhance usability.
The Autoconf build system has been designed to be used by other
applications too. It reliably detects installations of omniORB
version 3 and 4, and a number of C++ features such as PIC &
dynamic link flags. If you want to deploy an omniORB application,
then have a look and see if these Autoconf macros can help you.
This release also contains a set of new Python examples, which
show how you can incorporate the Event Service into your Python
application. (Requires omniORBpy.)
