[omniORB] interceptors

Hi all,
    this is perhaps a trivial question, but there is nothing about stated in
the OmniORB manual.
Is it true that Omni interceptors apply only to remote calls, and thus any
behavior relying on them must account for that ?
And btw, was it the OMG intention to have this distinction in the context of
CORBA portable interceptors (yes, I know they are a different beast, I'm
just courios).
