Looks like you are using gcc 3. There is a patch for that problem in the README.gcc file that you'll find with omniEvents-2.4.1.

I haven't incorporated the change into CVS yet, because I fear it would break other platforms. That whole area could do with rework - there must be a simpler way to open a file in a cross-platform-safe manner...
