[omniORB] compiling on win64 on opteron, getting undefined python symbols

I am trying to compile omniorb on a win64 machine and i am getting 
undefined python symbols when i link omniidl.
__imp__PyString_Type
for example (and many more)  I am using the python 2.5.1 install for amd 
64 (I am running on an opteron)  and i think i have followed the 
instructions correctly up to this point, any ideas?
